Benjamin J. Colburn

In 2000, after spending a year as a Judicial Law Clerk in the Minnesota District Courts, he established his private practice in:

• Family law (divorce, child custody, paternity, parenting time, child support, adoption);
• Restraining Orders (Orders for Protection and Harassment Restraining Orders);
• Criminal Defense (drugs, dwi/dui, traffic violations, assault, domestic assault, criminal sexual conduct, juvenile delinquency, etc.);
• Expungement of criminal records; and
• Child protection.

Ben is an avid tennis player, golfer, gardener, and cooking enthusiast. He also enjoys camping and canoeing in the Boundary Waters and on other lakes and rivers of Minnesota. Ben, his wife, and two children reside in the city of Rosemount.

Ben has considerable courtroom litigation experience in both family law and criminal defense work and is an attorney who is dedicated to representing individuals and protecting their rights. He capably represents people who find themselves in crisis situations. While he is an experienced trial lawyer, he also creatively obtains favorable outcomes for his clients when litigation may not be the best or most cost-effective path. Ben has training in Alternative Dispute Resolution (Mediation, Arbitration, and Early Neutral Evaluation) and has regularly and successfully represented his clients through those processes.
